The Premier League season has now drawn to a conclusion and as such here at Transfermarkt we have been busy updating the market values of the division’s hundreds of players. Due to a number of factors, players either gain or lose market value from one update to the next and as a result the overall squad value of each club also rises or falls. Naturally, squads can also see their market value go up or down based on the players that join or leave them after each transfer window. As such, it’s worth bearing that in mind when we go through the clubs that have gained the most market value over the course of the 2023/24 Premier League season. So let’s now take a look at which clubs have gained the most market value in the last 10 months.
To the surprise of most Premier League fans, the club that has gained the most market value for their squad over the course of this season is none other than Crystal Palace. Since August 1 last year, the London club have seen their squad market value increase by 47.5% to rise from €299.5 million to where it now stands at €441.7m. This is due to a number of factors but perhaps the most obvious one was the arrival of Adam Wharton from Blackburn last summer for €21.3m. Over the course of the season his market value has increased by an impressive €26.5m.
Just below Palace are the usual big hitters like Liverpool and Manchester City, who saw their squads increase in market value by €125.6m and €111.5m respectively. Both clubs added a number of quality players to their squad this season, but can also lay claim to some of the most improved players too. Man City, for example, have four players in the top 10 for players that gained the most market value this season – Phil Foden, Jérémy Doku, Rodri and Julián Alvarez saw a collective €137m get added to their market values.
Somewhat surprisingly, Brighton sit in fifteenth place on this list due to a mixed bag of factors. The club’s squad size shrunk from 35 to 27 and a number of big players have left the club this season, but the Seagulls have bounced back in typical fashion by promoting and developing a new batch of young stars. Whether it be Simon Adingra (+€20m in market value this season), Carlos Baleba (+€17m), Jack Hinshelwood (+€16m) or Kaoru Mitoma (+€13m), there’s no doubt that Brighton still have a talent for finding the stars of tomorrow.
