Süper Lig market values: Ferdi Kadıoğlu new MVP – Icardi and Kent drop

There is a new, most valuable player in the Süper Lig: Ferdi Kadıoğlu. The Fenerbahce star is one of 604 players considered as part of the Süper Lig market value update. The 24-year-old left-back has leapfrogged his teammate Sebastian Szymanski to claim the number one spot in the Süper Lig market value ranking. Other notable changes include Mauro Icardi (Galatasaray), Semih Kılıçsoy (Besiktas), and former Ranger’s star Ryan Kent (Fenerbahce).

“Ferdi is now the most valuable Süper Lig player,” Area Manager Turkey Gökhan Yagmur said. “Arsenal and Napoli have scouted him for some time and there have been some talks already as well. The transfer fee is expected to be between €20-25m.” Born in the Netherlands, the 24-year-old left-back managed three goals and five assists in 51 games across all competitions for Fenerbahce this season. Ferdi is also an important player for Turkey’s national team. Ferdi’s market value has increased by 5% to now €21m, just ahead of Szymanski, whose market value dropped by €1m to €19m. 

While Ferdi is one player to watch, the same can be said about Semih Kılıçsoy. “A young and dynamic talent,” Yagmur said. “Very strong on the ball and always looks for a direct path to the goal. Several top clubs are scouting him.” The 18-year-old Besiktas striker has managed to score 12 goals and three assists in 35 games across all competitions. With that in mind, Semih sees his market value increase by 50% to now €12m. 

While the likes of Ferdi and Semih are players on the rise several bigger names see their market value drop. Among them are Icardi and Kent. Kent’s drop in market value over the last year has been significant. The 27-year-old managed just one goal and two assists in 18 games across all competitions for Fenerbahce this season. “Kent was cut from the squad because of the foreign limitation rule,” Yagmur said. “It underlines his value to the squad.” 

The situation is more complicated when it comes to Icardi. “He has played another good season, even if he had a bit of a draught at one point,” Yagmur said. “But because of his age he must go down. It is only €1m because he still has a big impact on his team. Despite being under contract for just one more year, Icardi could still command a fee in the region of €10m.” Icardi dropped by €1m to now €17m but remains one of the five most valuable players in the Süper Lig.
