While Man United and West Ham occupy the top two places, Tottenham Hotspur come in third place with an average attendance of 61,532. Spurs moved into the 62,850 capacity arena in 2019 and it’s widely regarded as one of the best football stadiums in the world. Arsenal (60,213) and Liverpool (54,287) complete the top five. Only one club in the top ten plays outside of the top-flight, Sunderland. The Mackems have an incredibly passionate fanbase and their average attendance of 40,412 is bigger than Chelsea (39,633) and Everton (39,063). Five other Championship clubs – Leeds, Leicester, Southampton, Ipswich and Middlesbrough – feature in the top twenty. Derby County just missed out on the top twenty as they rank 21st but the League One side have the highest average attendance outside of the top two divisions. Remarkably, Luton Town (49th) and Bournemouth (50th) just make the top fifty despite being Premier League clubs and they are behind League One outfit Plymouth and League Two side Bradford.
