The transfer window has closed for every top European league but planning will already be all underway for the summer window. Teams are working tirelessly behind the scenes on identifying targets and figuring out their budgets.
Managers will be constantly assessing their squads with sporting directors and recruitment staff scanning the market for potential deals. A plethora of players will become available in the summer where clubs famously have more money to spend and aren’t as restricted by financial fair play rules. The rumour mill is beginning to pick up pace and we’ve collated some of the biggest current transfer stories.
Alexander Isak reportedly prefers a move to Liverpool, if he leaves Newcastle United this summer. Isak has firmly cemented his status as one of the best strikers in the world this season and he’s been strongly linked with Arsenal. Barcelona are also interested but the Swedish striker would be very interested in a move to Anfield.
Barcelona are also monitoring Jean-Philippe Mateta as they look to bolster their options at centre-forward with Robert Lewandowski nearing the end of his career. Mateta has been in excellent form for Crystal Palace but a move to Barcelona is still viewed as unlikely.
Johan Bakayoko appears destined to leave PSV this summer with Liverpool and Newcastle battling for his signature. Meanwhile, Neymar is dreaming of a return to Barcelona as he hopes to prove his fitness during his spell at boyhood club Santos.
