The January transfer window is now little more than a distant memory in European football and as such clubs across the continent are already making plans for the summer window. Teams are working tirelessly behind the scenes on identifying targets and figuring out their budgets.
Managers will be constantly assessing their squads with sporting directors and recruitment staff scanning the market for potential deals. A plethora of players will become available in the summer where clubs famously have more money to spend and aren’t as restricted by financial fair play rules. The rumour mill is beginning to pick up pace and we’ve collated some of the biggest current transfer stories.
Lionel Messi could yet make a sensational return to Barcelona in the future, according to reports in Spain. The 37-year-old is currently plying his trade in the MLS with Inter Miami but it’s been suggested that Messi wants to play at the renovated Camp Nou before he retires.
Manchester United and Manchester City are reportedly keeping tabs on Rafael Leão ahead of a potential summer move. The AC Milan winger is also attracting interest from clubs in Saudi Arabia.
Flamengo full-back Wesley has emerged as potential replacement for Trent Alexander-Arnold at Liverpool. The 21-year-old has already been subject to an offer from Zenit Saint Petersburg but Anfield is a more appealing destination. One player that seems destined to leave Liverpool this summer if Darwin Núñez and it’s been reported that Barcelona have shown interest.
