Victor Osimhen’s future has been one of the biggest transfer sagas of the summer. The Nigerian international was widely expected to depart Napoli on deadline day for the Italian giants but no deal was completed. Osimhen was on the verge of joining Al-Ahli but the deal collapsed after Napoli demanded an extra €5 million on top of the pre-agreed €80m transfer fee.
Osimhen and his representatives were reportedly furious with Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentilis and sporting director Giovanni Manna and the relationship has completely broken. Chelsea were also in talks with Osimhen but they failed to agree terms with Napoli or the player and the Serie A side subsequently left the 25-year-old out of their squad for the season as confirmed by Antonio Conte. “No player will be reintegrated,” Conte said. “Those who are out of the project will remain out of the project. We made our choices and worked in one direction all together”. But now Galatasaray could offer Osimhen an escape from Napoli, according to reports.
Reputable Italian journalist Gianluca Di Mario reported that Galatasary and Napoli are locked in talks over a deal for Osimhen. The Turkish side are hopeful of bringing the striker to Istanbul on-loan until the end of the season with Galatasaray chiefs expected to travel to Naples for talks. It’s understood that Galatasaray will cover around €9/10m of Osimhen’s salary. With Napoli banishing Osimhen from their first-team squad then a temporary move to Galatasaray could appeal ahead of a permanent move next summer. The Turkish transfer window doesn’t close until September 13 and Osmihen would become comfortably the most valuable player in the league at €100m.
