Premier League update soon

The countdown is on. Come May 27, Transfermarkt will carry out the latest market value update in the Premier League. Before that, this is your chance to get involved! Who needs to be upgraded and why? Which players are valued too high and who could be in for a downgrade?
Cole Palmer has enjoyed an incredible debut season in a largely underwhelming Chelsea team. Following his €47m transfer from Manchester City last summer, the 22 year old has scored 22 Premier League goals, whilst providing a further 11 assists. Those numbers left him in second place in both the golden boot race and the race for the most assists, with only Erling Haaland (27) scoring more and only Ollie Watkins (13) registering more assists. Palmer has been included in Gareth Southgate’s provisional England squad for the Euros this summer, and is expected to play a key role in Germany. He already received a €10m market value increase in March’s interim update to take his market value to €55m, and looks certain to see his value increase further this May. Palmer had a market value of just €32m when he originally signed for Chelsea last summer.
Another player who could be looking at a potential upgrade is Manchester City’s Phil Foden. The Englishmen won the Premier League, and scored 19 goals on the way to the Sky Blues wrestling the title away from Arsenal. Afforded more game-time and often a more central role in Man City’s attack, Foden has flourished. The playmaker is sure to play a huge part in England’s chances at the Euros this summer. In the last Premier League market value update back in March, he saw his market value rise by €20m to take his value to €130m. His strong end to the season could see a further rise for the 24 year old this May.
At the other end of the scale, a player who could be facing a potential downgrade is Arsenal’s Gabriel Martinelli. The Brazilian has endured a tough season, disrupted by injury, that saw him lose his place in the Gunners’ starting eleven during much of the Premier League run-in to Leandro Trossard. After scoring 15 league goals last season, the 22 year old has just six in the Premier League this term, with only a further four assists. He is however part of the Brazil squad for the Copa America this summer. Martinelli’s market value grew last season from €40m to €80m, and even hit €90m at the start of this season, but the Brazilian was downgraded by -€10m last December. He could be in for a further drop this month.

In addition to the Premier League, the market value update for the 24 clubs in the Championship will be on May 24.
