The January transfer market is now officially open, with clubs across Europe looking to get deals over the line to enhance their squads for the second half of the season. Teams are working tirelessly behind the scenes on identifying targets to sign or loan.
Managers will be constantly assessing their squads with sporting directors and recruitment staff scanning the market for potential deals in the market. A plethora of players will be unhappy with their lack of minutes, with their agents aiming to secure them a move to ensure first-team football for the second half of the season. Despite his best efforts, new Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim continues to struggle in his attempts to turn things around at Old Trafford. According to fresh reports, much of that frustration is down to the poor form of lone striker Rasmus Højlund and could now lead to the player departing the club on loan before the end of the transfer window. TalkSport report that Serie A giants Juventus and Napoli are very interested in bringing the Danish goalscorer back to Italy.

Another player that could be set to leave Man Utd is central midfielder Casemiro, who has also been linked with a move to the Italian top-flight. According to the Daily Mail, Roma are keen on signing the Brazilian star on loan for the remainder of the season, should the club sell Leandro Paredes before the end of the week.

Chelsea’s hunt for a new striker may have taken a positive turn this week, with long-term transfer target Mathys Tel reportedly confirming his intentions of leaving Bayern Munich before the end of the transfer window. The player has been linked to other Premier League clubs, but the Daily Mail report that the Stamford Bridge club are already in discussions with their Bundesliga counterparts.
Elsewhere, Bayer Leverkusen are reportedly considering a move for Brighton striker Evan Ferguson as they look to sell Victor Boniface to Al-Nassr. While Manchester City have considered joining the race to sign Juventus and Brazil midfielder Douglas Luiz on loan to bolster their ranks for the remainder of the season.
