5 Arsenal stars included

The 2024/25 Premier League season got underway last weekend but the biggest stars in the English top-flight descended on Manchester on Tuesday night to celebrate the previous campaign. The PFA awards are the most prestigious in the country and a plethora of big names showed up including Pep Guardiola, Virgil Van Dijk and Erling Haaland.
Phil Foden enjoyed a stunning 2023/24 league campaign, registering 27 goal contributions as Manchester City won their fourth consecutive title and he was voted PFA Player of the Year by his fellow professionals. Meanwhile, Cole Palmer was recognised for his incredible debut season at Chelsea as he was voted the Young Player of the Year. Palmer, however, missed out on a place in the team of the season but who was voted in the XI by their fellow Premier League stars? Let’s find out.
Five Arsenal players were voted into the team that would have a combined market value of €983 million, based on Transfermarkt data. David Raya recorded the most clean sheets with 16 and he was voted as the best goalkeeper. Two of Raya’s Arsenal teammates were voted in defence with Gabriel and William Saliba enjoyed outstanding campaigns. Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk also made the cut, meaning three centre-backs were included with Man City right-back Kyle Walker.
As the graphic above illustrates, Arsenal duo Declan Rice and Martin Ødegaard from the midfield trio with Rodri – the Man City stalwart is in contention to win the Ballon d’Or after inspiring Spain to Euro 2024. Foden was named as one of the three attackers to make the team alongside Man City teammate Haaland and Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins.
