Three Liverpool stars in top 20

It’s often deliberated that having a solid spine to a team is a recipe for success in football. Boasting a core group of players who are available and consistently performing week-in week-out is certainly a compound for accomplishment. Unfortunately, very often in the modern game we see outstanding players unable to fulfil their potential due to injury issues. Whilst for some other footballers, failing to find consistency often hinders their careers. It means those who are regularly available and regularly putting in solid performances are like gold dust.
With this in mind, which stars have been on the pitch the most in the Premier League this season? At Transfermarkt, we have calculated the players with the most minutes in the English top-flight this term to determine just that. We have excluded goalkeepers as it is often a position less rotated, with keepers rarely subbed and much more scarcely losing their place in the team compared to their outfield counterparts.
Two outfield stars have not missed a single minute of Premier League action for their teams this season. Liverpool centre-half Virgil van Dijk has been an ever-present in the Reds’ pursuit of the Premier League title, while Brentford centre-back Nathan Collins also hasn’t missed a minute for the Bees. The pair have played all 2,610 minutes. In third having only missed three minutes of Premier League action having been substituted in the 87th minute against Fulham on match-day 11 is Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo. It’s 2,607 minutes for the Cameroonian this term. Fourth goes to Everton defender James Tarkowski, who has played 2,602 minutes of league action for the Toffees.
In fifth position is another Liverpool player in Mohamed Salah. The Egyptian, who is enjoying an incredible record-breaking season, has played 2,575 Premier League minutes for the Merseyside club, only missing 35 minutes of action. Sixth goes to Chelsea midfielder Moisés Caicedo who has played 2,546 minutes for the Blues. He is followed in seventh by Bournemouth left-back Milos Kerkez, with the Hungarian having played 2,541 minutes for the Cherries. Eighth goes to Max Kilman – the first player on the list who signed for his club this season – who has played 2,539 Premier League minutes for the Hammers
In ninth position is Fulham full-back Antonee Robinson, who has played 2,538 minutes for the west London club this term. Completing the top 10 is Nottingham Forest wing-back Ola Aina, who has played 2,535 Premier League minutes this season. In total, league leaders Liverpool have three players in the top 20 (van Dijk, Salah and Ryan Gravenberch), whilst over-achievers Nottingham Forest (Aina, Nikola Milenković and Murillo) also have a trio of stars on the list. Erling Haaland is the first out-and-out striker to appear, coming in at 14th with 2,485 minutes.
