Liverpool welcome Manchester United to Anfield on Sunday in the biggest game of the Premier League weekend. It’s the biggest rivalry in English football with 39 English titles between the two north-west cities. United hold the record with 20 titles but Liverpool are on track to match their arch rivals’ achievements this season.

Arne Slot has been a revelation since replacing Jurgen Klopp and the Merseyside club sit top of the league. United, however, enter the game in contrasting form as they are languishing in 14th place in the table and Ruben Amorim has recently admitted that they could be in a relegation battle. United’s record at Anfield is horrendous across recent seasons and Liverpool are strong favourites to secure another victory. But using Transfermarkt’s famed market values, which players make the combined XI from Liverpool and Man United? Let’s find out!

The combined most valuable XI would have a total market value of €670 million. Perhaps surprisingly given their contrasting form, United would have five players in the XI with Liverpool edging them with six. In a 4-3-3 formation, it would be an all Liverpool front three with Mohamed Salah, Luis Díaz and Darwin Núñez totalling €205m in value.

United captain Bruno Fernandes received a significant downgrade in the latest Premier League market value update but he features alongside Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai in midfield. The back four would feature two players from either side with Manchester United’s André Onana in goal.
