The January transfer market is now officially open, with clubs across Europe looking to get deals over the line to enhance their squads for the second half of the season. Teams are already working tirelessly behind the scenes on identifying targets to sign or loan.
Managers will be constantly assessing their squads with sporting directors and recruitment staff scanning the market for potential deals in the market. A plethora of players will be unhappy with their lack of minutes, with their agents aiming to secure them a move to ensure first-team football for the second half of the season. The rumour mill is beginning to pick up pace and we’ve collated some of the biggest current transfer stories.
Marcus Rashford’s Manchester United career appears over but the 27-year-old has rejected big-money offers to move to Saudi Arabia. Rashford, out of favour with Ruben Amorim, reportedly wants to move to a top European club and AC Milan are the latest club to express an interest over a loan deal, according to the Daily Mail.
Omar Marmoush has been a revelation with Frankfurt this season in Germany to attract interest from a host of European giants. Arsenal are keen admirers of the attackers with Liverpool, Aston Villa and Tottenham also monitoring Marmoush.
According to reports in Brazil, Arsenal have approached Botafogo over a deal for Igor Jesus. It’s claimed that the Gunners want an initial loan deal with a permanent option in the summer for €20 million. Meanwhile, West Ham have Evan Ferguson and Hwang Hee-chan on their striker shortlist this month.
