The transfer market remains closed until January but clubs are still extremely busy behind the scenes as they plan for future arrivals. There’s now less than one month until the winter window opens and clubs are already working tirelessly behind the scenes on identifying targets to sign or loan.
Managers will be constantly assessing their squads with sporting directors and recruitment staff scanning the market for potential deals in the upcoming market. A plethora of players will be unhappy with their lack of minutes with their agents aiming to secure them a move to ensure first-team football for the second half of the season. The rumour mill is beginning to pick up pace and we’ve collated some of the biggest current transfer stories.
According to reports in Spain, Barcelona have made Erling Haaland their priority target in 2025 when a new release clause becomes active in his contract. The Norwegian striker’s deal at Manchester City runs until 2027 but Barcelona want him to replace Robert Lewandowski.
Manchester United have failed in an approach for Federico Dimarco with the Italian wanting to remain at Inter Milan. United are in the market for a new left-wing back and Dimarco would represent the perfect fit but PSG star Nuno Mendes represents another option.
Marseille remain interested in Paul Pogba with the French midfielder nearing a return from his doping ban. Meanwhile, West Ham are winning the race to sign Evan Ferguson on-loan in January with Brighton willing to let the Irish international leave on a temporary basis.
