The January transfer market is now officially open, with clubs across Europe looking to get deals over the line to enhance their squads for the second half of the season. Teams are already working tirelessly behind the scenes on identifying targets to sign or loan.
Managers will be constantly assessing their squads with sporting directors and recruitment staff scanning the market for potential deals in the market. A plethora of players will be unhappy with their lack of minutes, with their agents aiming to secure them a move to ensure first-team football for the second half of the season. The rumour mill is beginning to pick up pace and we’ve collated some of the biggest current transfer stories.
Marcus Rashford’s Manchester United career appears over but the 27-year-old has rejected big-money offers to move to Saudi Arabia. Rashford, out of favour with Ruben Amorim, reportedly wants to move to a top European club with Barcelona his preferred destination – Borussia Dortmund and PSG have also been linked.
Dean Huijsen has been a revelation since joining Bournemouth from Juventus in the summer and Real Madrid are reportedly monitoring the centre-back. Meanwhile, Kyle Walker could be on way out at Manchester City with Saudi clubs interested.
Darwin Núñez has been linked with a loan move to AC Milan during the January window but it’s understood there’s been no talks between the two clubs, despite reports to the contrary in Italy. Miguel Almiron looks destined to depart Newcastle United this month with MLS side Charlotte FC closing in on a deal.
