The final matchday of the Champions League league phase certainly lived up to expectations during a thrilling night of football. The decision to restructure the format of the biggest club competition in football divided opinion but it raised jeopardy towards the end of the new league phase.

On the final matchday, some clubs were aiming to guarantee a top eight place, while others were vying to secure a place in the play-offs to avoid elimination. Manchester City and PSG – two of the richest clubs in the world – were in serious danger of exiting the Champions League but both secured passage into the play-off round. The top eight clubs progress automatically into the last sixteen but the clubs finishing between 9th and 24th place will compete in a two-legged play-off with the draw taking place on Friday. The draw for the play-offs will take place on Friday with each club having two potential opponents. The clubs on the left-hand side below will draw one of the clubs on the right-hand side.
