Whilst Mohamed Salah and Erling Haaland currently lead the Premier League goalscoring charts with 13 goals apiece, one of the revelations of the season has been Nottingham Forest’s Chris Wood. The New Zealand international has 10 goals in the English top-flight this term, and with his goal at Old Trafford on Saturday became Forest’s all-time leading goalscorer in the Premier League. Wood’s 25 goals overtook Bryan Roy’s 24, and he also became just the second player to be the leading Premier League goalscorer for two separate clubs – Wood also holds that accolade at Burnley with 49 for the Clarets. Alan Shearer is the only other player to achieve that feat; Shearer is the all-time leading scorer at Newcastle and Blackburn.
So whilst Wood now leads the all-time scoring charts for Forest, who is the greatest Premier League goalscorer for the other 19 clubs currently plying their trade in the English top-flight? At Transfermarkt, we have calculated just that, with some club legends cropping up on the list. Four of the players are still with their clubs and could add to their tallies, whilst some other current stars are chasing down their club’s record Premier League scorer.
We will start with the player who has the most goals at a single club in Premier League history and therefore naturally leads the way for his team. Harry Kane is Tottenham’s all-time top scorer in the English top-flight, with 201 goals in 305 games for Spurs. The Englishman is way ahead of Heung-Min Son in second (124 goals) and is only 59 goals short of the overall Premier League goalscoring record of 260 held buy Shearer. Leading the way for Manchester City is club legend Sergio Agüero – the Argentinian bagged 184 goals in 275 games for the Sky Blues. Manchester United’s all-time top Premier League scorer is Wayne Rooney, who has 183 goals in 393 games for the Red Devils.
Top spot for Arsenal goes to the great Thierry Henry who scored 175 goals in 258 matches for the Gunners. Up next is the first player still in action for his club – Liverpool’s all-time top Premier League scorer is Salah with 170 goals in 277 games. The Egyptian is sure to add to that tally for the Reds. Newcastle’s top scorer is Shearer, who scored 148 goals in 303 matches for his boyhood club. For Chelsea, it’s Frank Lampard – the first midfielder on the list, with 147 goals in 429 matches for the Blues. Unsurprisingly, Jamie Vardy takes top spot for Leicester – his latest goal against Brighton taking him to 142 goals in 321 games for the Foxes.
Topping the charts for Southampton is Matt Le Tissier, with 100 goals in 270 games for the Saints. Aston Villa’s top scorer is Gabriel Agbonlahor with 74 goals in 322 games. Although, Ollie Watkins is chasing him down, currently on 66 goals for Villa. Romelu Lukaku leads the way for Everton, with 68 goals in 141 matches. For West Ham, it’s Michail Antonio, with 68 goals in 268 games, while for Crystal Palace, Wilfried Zaha leads with 67 goals in 284 matches. Clint Dempsey is top for Fulham, with 50 goals in 189 games, while for Bournemouth, it’s Joshua King with 48 goals in 161 matches.
The top scorer for Wolves is Mexican Raul Jimenez, with 40 goals in 131 matches. For Brentford, leading the charts is Ivan Toney with 36 goals in 83 games, but Yoanne Wissa is now just one behind on 35. Pascal Gross just edged Danny Welbeck for Brighton – the German scored 30 goals in 228 games for Brighton, with Welbeck currently one behind on 29. The aforementioned Wood now leads the way for Forest with 25 Premier League goals in 53 matches for the club, while for Ipswich Marcus Stewart is top with 25 goals in 62 games.
